Lithuania Program Postponed Until 2011 For abiding reasons of a structural nature, we will have to postpone our SLS Lithuania program until next year, when we are planning to relaunch it, in Vilnius, the fulcrum of Europe's crossroads, in a new, expanded format, as SLS/East-Central Europe, which will enable us to broaden its scope and involve writers from several other countries. Next year will mark 100th anniversary of the great, Nobel Prize-winning, Lithuania-born poet Czeslaw Milosz, and we will dedicate the program to his life and work.
At the same time, we are currently working to expand further our, highly successful, SLS Jewish Lithuania pilot program, relaunching it as a new, wholly independent, cultural and academic entity based permanently in Vilnius and dedicated to the cause of preserving and disseminating knowledge about the Litvak culture and history. We apologize for the possible inconvenience to everyone who was planning on applying to this year's program. Of course, all the scholarships, in the form of partial tuition waiver, which we will be offering to a limited number of SLS 2010 Unified Literary Contest entrants, based on the overall strength of their submissions, in addition to our two 2010 programs -- SLS Montreal and SLS Kenya -- will be applicable to our next-year programs as well.
